VAUGHAN WILES is an international marketing specialist and economist, having practiced in Johannesburg, London and New York. Unlike several members of his family, with reputations of distinction in the saddle, any trace of equestrian skill possessed by Wiles has yet to be revealed. He hopes to compensate for this shameful obscurity by writing HOOF BEAT, drawn from his many years of being surrounded by fine horses and the people that love them.
In THE CARACAS GIRL, Leatherby’s weakness for straying into precarious but comical situations—before emerging victorious and deeply in love—takes him on an excursion to Maduro’s Venezuela to rescue a singularly stunning woman, a victim of human trafficking.
His debut novel, LORD SOUFFLÉ is a coming-of-age work of fiction, in which Leatherby—who just wants to find his way in the world and enjoy the finer things of life—finds himself, instead, running from the mob across Europe.
Wiles lives with his wife Anne and twenty horses on Amity Farm, a picturesque sanctuary in New York’s Hudson Valley.
